A College Student's Solo Travel!

06/05/2026

Our guest this time was a college student who came from Tokyo.
Last year, about 99% of our guests were parents and children, but since the beginning of this year, the number of young people traveling alone that we welcome has increased.

From the moment we met at the station, she was very bright and friendly. She actively participated in everything.

After meeting at the station, first we filled our stomachs. We had a meal at a restaurant near the station (Pala Pala) and headed out to the castle town.

That day, rather than sightseeing, it was about shopping. Since there were no flowers in the container in front of the house and it looked bleak, we decided to have her help with the gardening, and we also had her choose which plants to plant.

Seeing beautiful flowers makes you feel excited, doesn't it! After a long winter ends, seeing vividly colored spring flowers makes us feel that way especially.

We bought ingredients for her stay and returned home for the day. We immediately had her help me plant the flowers.

(As a sequel to the story, these beautiful flowers were destined to last for only a few days. On the day she departed, after we dropped her off and returned home, the escaped chickens had completely ravaged them, leaving them in a miserable state...
😭😭😭)

Now, (cheering up!) for the remaining part of the 4-day, 3-night stay, we spent time sightseeing in the castle town, making beer bread at home, taking care of the chickens, doing yard work, and having lunch at Kuromame no Yakata. At Kuromame no Yakata, several stalls were out for an event, and we bought some Mekabu tea from an interesting man who said he came from Matsubara-city in Osaka. What does it taste like? Rather than tea, it is more like a savory kelp broth, or it feels like it would make a good soup, and it is very delicious. Since it is seaweed, it is also said to be good for bowel movements.

She, who said she loves cooking, treated me to stuffed green peppers for dinner one night, and we ate them together.

It was delicious! Thank you for making it!

Whenever guests come, we always share the photos we took together in a LINE album, and there are so many wonderful photos with a young person's sense bursting through!

As expected of the Instagram generation! It makes Sasayama look like a very fashionable townπŸ˜†

She said she would start job hunting when she goes back.
Do your best~!!
We're rooting for you from Sasayama~!!
