Summer Holiday Guests #4
This time, two energetic brothers and their
mother stayed for 4 nights and 5 days!
Some guests have children who are afraid of
bugs or too scared to approach chickens, but this time, the kids loved insects,
lizards, and frogs! πΈπ¦πͺ°π¦πͺ²
As soon as we picked them up from the station and arrived home, the brothers immediately started looking for frogs. They found plenty in the garden.
For all the children who came, the impact of the chickens was significant. They usually approach the chickens hesitantly at first, but gradually get used to them. The brothers who came this time was no exception. They began to look forward to feeding them and collecting eggs every day. Even though the brothers were a bit hesitant at first, they waited every morning for John to come out, opened the coop door, and went to feed the chickens.
The older brother, full of energy and
sometimes looking a bit aggressive, was actually very kind to his younger
brother. He would tease the younger one and occasionally get scolded by their
mother for making him cry, but when needed, he took good care of him. He also showed
his clingy side occasionally, enjoying his time with his mother. The younger
brother, who loved coloring, patiently colored through the sheets he brought. Being
still young, he often cuddles up to their mother. Watching them brought me back
fond memories of our children when they were at those ages.
When brothers gather, their play often
becomes intense, but their mother managed that quite well!
During their stay, it was quite hot, but we went to a dinosaur park, had lunch at the Kuromame no Yakata buffet, and even visited Children's Museum (called Chirumyu for short.) At Chirumyu, the boys participated in a giant board game event and played with wooden toys. The older brother was very good at discovering frogs and insects, catching tiny frogs that we hadn't noticed.
John took them to a nearby river at Kozoji temple, where they caught many freshwater crabs, frogs, and lizards. Before heading out to a restaurant, we released all the frogs and insects they had caught, but only the little lizard was left unnoticed in the case. Oh noβ¦π
At home, we built and flew a propeller plane, played shopping games and puzzles together, and built with LEGO. They created unique works with the LEGO again this time. Oh, and the older boys seemed to have liked the music box we had at home; from the time he woke up until bedtime, whenever he remembered, he would wind it up and play music. It was very soothing! πΆ
I also had various discussions with their mother. She had gone to Australia on a working holiday when she was younger and met her husband there. Since some of our kids are also there on working holidays, we had a lively conversation about local information.
Before I knew it, time flew by, and while preparing for their departure, I spoke on the phone with the guest's husband. After seeing the videos and photos his wife had sent, he said, "I wanted to go too!" π
Next time, we hope the father will join us as well. We're looking forward to it!
P.S. Later, we received a lovely review!

"Countryside Homestay: A First Attempt with My 5 and 7-Year-Old Mischievous Boys"
I wanted to take my children somewhere unforgettable for summer vacation, so since around May, I started searching various sites for "local study," "local experiences," and "countryside stays," and eventually found this place.
Right after applying, we had a video call to introduce ourselves and ask questions. The two hosts, who were just as warm and fun as they appeared on the introduction page I had seen, made us excited for the trip. Before summer vacation, when the kindergarten teacher asked my younger son (5 years old), "Where are you going for summer vacation?" he eagerly replied, "I'm going to take care of chickens."
As soon as we arrived at the hosts' home, the kids quickly found a lot of frogs and became engrossed in catching them.
During our 4-night, 5-day stay, we took care of the chickens, harvested vegetables, and played in the river, catching freshwater crabs while surrounded by greenery. The time flew by so quickly.
I am so grateful for how gently they watched over my two mischievous and willful boys. Every night, I ended up falling asleep with the kids... I wished I could have talked more with the hosts...
I'll come back to show them how much the kids have grown!
See you soon!!
